Principal Business Development Lead, Amazon Leo Government

As Principal Business Development Lead at Amazon Leo for Government, he leads a team of business development professionals in identifying and providing state-of-the-art satellite communications capabilities to the U.S. Government. Rich Pang is an industry expert in government strategy, business and product development, and service delivery. Prior to Amazon Leo, Rich served as Vice President of Corporate Development at Telesat Government Solutions and Vice President of Government Segment Market Management at SES Networks. In both roles, he assessed global government and institutional markets, identified customer requirements, and led product and solution development to meet mission needs. Before that, Rich was Senior Director for Hosted Payloads at SES Government Solutions (SES GS), where he managed the Commercially Hosted InfraRed Payload (CHIRP) program for the United States Air Force. He also successfully captured two additional hosted payload contracts: the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) and NASA’s Global Observations of the Limb and Disk (GOLD). Rich retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2010 as a Lieutenant Colonel, concluding 21 years of service. In his final assignment, he served as Director of Operations at the Program Executive Office for Environmental Satellites, where he led a cross-agency team from the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Commerce, and government contractors. His team was responsible for the operations and maintenance of the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) and the WindSat/Coriolis mission, as well as follow-on meteorological satellite programs. Rich earned his commission as a Distinguished Graduate through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program in June 1989. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from San Jose State University.
