Patrick Haddox is the CEO and co-founder of Samara Aerospace, a venture-backed manufacturer of next-generation satellite platforms for commercial and national security missions. Before founding Samara, Haddox built buses for a living. At Blue Canyon Technologies he worked directly on the build and test of Saturn-class satellite buses, including vehicles for DARPA’s Blackjack program, MethaneSAT, and NASA’s Pandora mission. He launched Samara in January 2024 and has taken it from concept to orbit since, raising $13M in venture capital, winning $6M in competitive government contracts, and demonstrating the company’s patented pointing control technology on orbit. Samara is now building Hummingbird, a platform engineered for volume production, with its first spacecraft launching in Summer 2027. Haddox holds an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and bachelor’s degrees in Engineering Mechanics and Physics.
